Hello, my name is Tobi Josephine and I go by TJ ART. I am a mixed media artist, primarily working in street, contemporary & textured art, based in Luton. I first fell in love with art during secondary school, a passion that would eventually shape my creative journey.

After a long break away from art after putting it down when I went to University in 2015. In 2020, like many during lockdown, I found myself unemployed. This period became a catalyst for my freelance career, where I created custom clothing. I experimented with a variety of materials—denim, leather, trainers, bags—and quickly discovered a market for my unique designs.

My custom pieces appeared in music videos and were commissioned by family, friends, and devoted clients. Although I enjoyed this chapter, I ultimately realised that the clothing avenue wasn’t my long-term path and closed that chapter after two years.

During this time away from my artistic practice, I was simultaneously growing in my corporate career within the creative advertising space. Eventually, I returned to art with renewed curiosity and intention. Like many artists, I explored new mediums in search of expression and imagination.

I gravitated toward dynamic cartoon-inspired characters and began blending oil markers, acrylic paint, and spray paint to create vibrant, energetic pieces that merge nostalgia with a contemporary edge. My experimentation expanded into textured art, incorporating clay and plaster to bring depth and dimensionality to my work.

My artistic journey has been on its own journey and i'm still powering through. Driven by my passion for creativity, I aim to infuse homes and establishments with vibrancy. My work acts as a bridge between neo-graffiti and novelty, offering spaces a sense of personality and modernity. As I continue to evolve and explore new mediums, my dedication to artistic growth remains unwavering.
